Materials containing petroleum or asphaltic bitumen are not approved for use on water-retaining structures with large surface:volume ratio such as lining of pipes, cisterns or water storage tanks in contact with wholesome water, but may be acceptable for use where there is only a small surface area in contact with the water – e.g. taps, valves and pipe connectors.

If the cure conditions are varied from those specified on the approval then the material is not covered by the scope of the approval.
